Find the first connection where an item stops. Repair that small section and test it before rebuilding the whole network.

Trace one item through the line
Start at the last point you can see material moving correctly, then follow the next connection. Check the visible port labels, the connection itself and whether the destination can accept another item. Standing near a machine is not the same as connecting to its intended input.
A recent Steam question about automatic depositing illustrates that confusion: a belt taken near the depositor did not make its connection obvious to the player. That discussion provides a useful symptom, not a fully verified blueprint for every destination.
Separate construction from a version problem
Patch 1.0.3 addressed crewmate-built mergers and splitters. Patch 1.0.4 allows any crewmate to attach those pieces to another player’s belt and changes merger input handling. An old workaround that always asks the host to build everything may therefore describe an earlier version.
Have the group check versions before comparing results. If the same connection appears different to the host and a joining player, capture both views. If it fails identically for everyone, inspect a minimal local example first.
- Choose one stalled connection.
- Check the source and destination labels in the game.
- Confirm the output has space to continue.
- Test a short route with a single item.
- Add the splitter or merger back only after the straight route works.
Protect useful evidence
Take a screenshot before removing the failed section. Include enough surrounding equipment to show the route and capture any status message. Then change only that connection. If a fix works, you will know which change mattered.
For a fresh bug report, include version, host/client role and the smallest reproducible layout. A long network with many moving parts is hard for other players to diagnose. This guide gives a troubleshooting order; it does not claim that every stopped belt has the same cause.
Common questions
Do I still need the host to place every splitter?
That advice predates the shared belt-building fixes. On 1.0.4, crewmates can place splitters and mergers on belts built by others.
Should I delete the whole factory?
Start with one failed connection and keep a screenshot. A smaller change is easier to evaluate.
