Moon Sweepers automation guide: build a line you can diagnose

A staged plan for collectors, transport, processing and selling, with clear checks for power and blocked output.

Quick answer

A small working line is the starting point. Add one branch at a time so you can see exactly what each new machine changes.

Give each stage a clear job

Think of an automated route as collection, transport, processing and delivery. Before scaling, watch one item move through every stage you intend to use. If the first route never completes, adding collectors only makes the source of the failure harder to see.

Label the route mentally by its last successful step: material arrived, the machine accepted it, output appeared, output left, payment occurred. This is a general diagnostic method rather than a claim that a particular factory layout has been tested by this site.

Check the line before buying more

When a machine stops, inspect its own status display and what is waiting immediately before and after it. Check resource requirements and available power in the game. A full destination or a disconnected port can stop progress even while upstream equipment looks active.

  1. Confirm one source produces material.
  2. Follow its output through the first connection.
  3. Check each machine’s input, status and output.
  4. Verify the destination actually receives the material.
  5. Only then add another source or processing branch.

Look at daytime and nighttime behavior

A recent Steam power discussion contains player explanations that some solar equipment includes batteries, and one player reports their factory continues overnight. Those reports do not establish a universal panel-to-machine ratio. Read the capacity and battery details on your own equipment.

If a route stops only at night, observe power and storage before deciding the machine is broken. If it stops in daylight as well, trace material connections again. Keep a note of the symptom, game version and whether it affects the host or a joining player. That makes an unresolved automation report much more useful.

Common questions

How many solar panels does each machine need?

No universal ratio is verified here. Compare the in-game supply, battery and demand figures across a full day and night.

Should I copy a huge factory from a screenshot?

Use it for inspiration, then prove a small section works before building the rest.
