Judge upgrades by money earned across a complete cleaning and selling trip, including travel and waiting time.

Measure a complete trip
Write down your starting money, then clean and sell using the same nearby route for a few minutes. Record the money at the end and how long the whole trip took. Include travelling, unloading and any machine waiting. A bigger container can look impressive while doing little for your actual earnings if the delivery end remains slow.
Use the result as your own baseline. No cash-per-minute figure is presented here because it would depend on equipment, route, progression and version. Comparing your own before-and-after runs is more useful than copying an unexplained number from a launch video.
Choose one useful change
Wing’s community guide prioritizes economy upgrades and warns against buying every intermediate tool. That is one player’s strategy, not an official optimal route. Treat it as a reason to compare purchases rather than a rule to skip equipment you enjoy.
Ask where your current trip loses time. If collection dominates, compare a better cleaning tool. If returning dominates, compare carrying or transport improvements. If finished material queues at the end, fix that queue before funding more collectors. Change one thing and repeat the route.
Keep the plan flexible
Recent players discussing whether money can run out describe earning enough for many purchases while only a small part of the Moon is clean. Their experiences do not establish an exact budget for every save. They do suggest avoiding panic over a harmless early purchase.
For co-op, discuss the next purchase before anyone buys it. A shared plan makes improvements easier to evaluate. Keep a small reserve while experimenting with a factory, and judge its output over time rather than assuming every extra machine pays for itself immediately.
Common questions
What is the fastest money method?
We have not verified one universal winner. Compare complete delivery loops and solve the slowest stage first.
Are the upgrade recommendations official?
No. The spending method here is editorial advice; the linked Steam guide is a community strategy.
